1st Video Streamed Across the Internet is also the 1st Film Streamed

Planet Earth watches over 1 billion hours of video streamed daily.

Until 1993, there were no videos streamed (maybe we’ll dig up an advanced ancient civilization that did it earlier but until then we go with 1993).

What was the first video to stream on the internet? Unlike the first eBook (the Declaration of Independence), you probably have never heard of it.

The first streamed video is also the first film streamed. It’s the obscure independent film from 1991 called Wax or the Discovery of Television Among the Bees.

You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq1PV8JcstA

It’s 81 minutes long and was streamed at 2 frames per second (fps). How bad is 2 fps? Here’s 10 minutes of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qk7ZSXujRo
